Janel Kok

Janel has more than 20 years of experience in the Advertising Branding Communications Industry. She started as a design writer at a Design Branding Agency and went on to brand-business management at Ogilvy, Publicis, and BBH. She has experience in international blue chip and local brands across varied industries leading these businesses in local, regional, or global capacities while being based out of Singapore or Shanghai. In her career, she has achieved notable creative and effectiveness awards on campaigns and projects for Nike, DHL, Sprite, and other design projects.

Today, Janel is writing a new chapter in her story – lending her past experience and expertise to Ocean Conservation and Sustainability. She serves as VP of Communications at Ocean Geographic Society. She is also involved with other blue conservation-related initiatives.

Janel is honing her skills as an underwater photographer and a sake sommelier. She is also a PADI certified Master Scuba Diver Trainer Instructor and designer-founder of PurpleCloud – a modern cheongsam label. Janel was born in Canada, grew up in Singapore, and resides in Shanghai, China. Janel speaks English, Chinese, and some French.
